SEOUL, South Korea (March 31, 2015) — Nexen Tire Corp. has extended its partnership agreements with four Major League Baseball (MLB) teams.
The deals renew the tire maker's sports marketing efforts in North America with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers and the Los Angeles Angels for the 2015 baseball season and, according to Nexen, are expected to elevate the company's visibility and brand awareness in North America.
“Our partnership with MLB teams can be a great opportunity to increase brand visibility and brand awareness amongst vast and loyal baseball fans,” said Lee Jang-hwan, global marketing manager for Nexen.
“We will continue to strengthen our sports marketing in North America to reach out to millions of fans who are loyal to dynamic and powerful sports.”
A company ad will be featured on the rolling board behind the home plate at the Dodger's home stadium and it will be shown on the LED screen board at the Tiger's stadium. In partnership with the Texas Rangers, the Nexen brand will have a billboard at the team's home stadium, providing both in stadium and television exposure.
With the Angels, a Nexen ad will be featured on a large exterior billboard at the top of the stadium as well as be featured in bloopers and great plays that will run between innings at every home game.
Nexen said it has been rolling out sports marketing via sponsorships in North America for several years, signing sponsorship agreements with the Dodgers and Tigers for the last three consecutive years. The company began its sponsorship pacts with the Texas Rangers and LA Angels last year.
Besides its efforts with baseball teams, Nexen also sponsors off-road racing, including the 2014 GEICO AMA EnduroCross.
Seoul-based Nexen provides OE tires to Chrysler's all-new 200 and Dodge's Ram 3500 as well as other North American automobile brands including GM and Chevrolet.
Nexen, established in 1942, said it has 205 dealers based in approximately 130 countries around the world and owns three manufacturing plants — two in South Korea (Yangsan and Changnyeong) and one in Quigdao, China, with another plant in Zatec, Czech Republic, scheduled to be operating by 2018.
