LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (March 27, 2015) — The Arkansas House Public Transportation Committee has approved legislation allowing the State Highway Commission to implement a pilot program to tax the state's drivers based on vehicle miles traveled.
According to the Specialty Equipment Market Association's (SEMA) Washington, D.C., staff, the legislation now moves to the full House of Representatives for a vote by all members. Under the measure, participants in the program would be taxed 1.5 cents per each mile that the subject vehicle travels on Arkansas roadways.
