CYPRESS, Calif. (March 27, 2015) — Team-building competition organizer Tough Mudder Inc. has picked the Toyo brand as its official tire.
Tough Mudder — which promotes itself as “Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet” — is described as a team-oriented 10-12 mile military-style obstacle course “designed to test physical strength and mental grit.”
An emphasis is placed on team building and camaraderie rather than individual prowess, according to Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. Each event “allows participants to experience exhilarating, yet safe, world-class obstacles they won't find anywhere else.”
This year, Tough Mudder participants will face “Toyo Tires Skidmarked” — a menacing 10-foot angled wall where teammates must work together to get on top, then navigate down the face of it past a row of Toyo Open Country A/T II tires.
In addition to Tough Mudder, Toyo said it also is the official tire of two other challenge events. Mudderella is a five- to seven-mile obstacle course — designed by women for women — in which participants test their agility and balance on Wheels in Motion, an obstacle of tire swings built out of Toyo tires. Urban Mudder is a five-mile city-based obstacle course — merging an obstacle challenge with a full-day festival — that also will use Toyo tires as obstacles.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Tough Mudder family of events and their participants to Team Toyo,” said Amy Coleman, senior director of marketing for Toyo Tire. “They embody the Toyo Tires ‘All or Nothing' spirit demonstrated by our products and our athletes.
“This partnership also gives an excellent opportunity for people to touch and feel the durability of our products.”
Jesse Bull, senior vice president brand for Tough Mudder Inc., said Toyo tires are known for their toughness and durability and “are a perfect fit for the Tough Mudder family of events.
“Our participants expect the world's best obstacles, and the opportunity to work with Team Toyo brings our legion of Mudders another great brand to experience on-site.”
Off the course, Toyo will have a display and physical challenge in the competitions' village at select events, and the two companies will work together on other cross-promotional opportunities.
