PHOENIX (March 24, 2015) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has scheduled a Certified Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Advanced Instructor Training Course for women only in Phoenix Oct. 6-9.
The four-day course will be held at the ISN Phoenix Conference and Training Center, according to TIA, which noted that this is the first-ever ATS course targeted to women tire professionals only.
“Currently, only a very small percentage of TIA-certified ATS technicians are female, and through this course we hope to increase those numbers,” said TIA President Freda Pratt-Boyer.
The ATS course offers in-depth classroom and hands-on training that industry professionals must successfully complete in order to train technicians in their own workplaces, according to TIA. It includes step-by-step procedures for all aspects of passenger and light truck tire service, as well as safety procedures and a full day of training on servicing tire pressure monitoring systems.
Through this “train the trainer” educational approach, TIA said it has trained and/or certified more than 93,000 technicians since 1997.
