EDINBURG, Texas (March 6, 2015) — An Edinburg tire dealer has been charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, according to the Edinburg Police Department.
Jose Manuel Mena, 54, was arraigned in Edinburg Municipal Court Feb. 26, the day after he was arrested at his place of business, Joe's Tire Shop at 201 E. Schunior Blvd. in Edinburg.
Police found 18 plastic bags containing a total of 6.3 grams of cocaine, according to the criminal complaint. Undercover police officers had previously purchased cocaine from Mr. Mena several times, the complaint said.
Judge Toribio “Terry” Palacios set Mr. Mena's bail at $50,000, the police department said.
Mr. Mena's case now will go to the Hidalgo County District Attorney's Office, according to Lt. Oscar Trevino, spokesman for the police department. It will be some time before a trial date is set, Lt. Trevino told Tire Business.
