    BETHESDA, Md. (March 4, 2015) — The Auto Care Association (ACA) is accepting nominations for its annual “Head of the Class” awards.

    The association, which began the competition in 2011 and administers it, said the award was created to “recognize companies that continually invest in their employee education and training, as well as promote the value and benefit that this investment provides to employees, their companies and the entire auto care industry.”

    The ACA said it “takes pride in honoring these companies annually,” noting all companies “committed to fostering constant growth and learning in their employees” are encouraged to apply.

    The award categories for 2015 will change from supply channel categories to total number of employees, according to the ACA, with three awards presented. To apply, applicants must include information directly related to the education and training practices of their company, including:

    • What prompted the company to invest in training, training for job competency vs. education for personal growth;
    • The types of training accomplished;
    • The initial goals;
    • The company's experiences;
    • Results of the training; and
    • Any future plans.

    Companies are asked to describe their experience in essay form as well as respond to general questions about the program.

    The 2015 application is available by clicking here.

    Applications are due by Friday, April 17; winning companies will be notified in May. Winners will be selected by the ACA's Auto Care Education Committee, then recognized during the Bethesda-based trade group's Fall Leadership Days 2015 in Austin, Texas, and at the AAPEX show this fall in Las Vegas. Winning companies also will be featured in several “Auto Care Insider” publications throughout the 2015-2016 year.

    Winners of Head of the Class awards in 2014 were:

    • Manufacturer: Gates Corp., Denver.
