Mickey Thompson debuts wheel line, treadwear warranty

STOW, Ohio (March 4, 2015) — Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels has introduced the M/T Metal Series wheels featuring four designs and five styles for trucks, SUVs and Jeeps.

The Stow-based company, a unit of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., also added a 50,000-mile limited treadwear warranty on its Baja STZ light truck tires.

The M/T Metal Series MM-164 will be offered in a choice of the MM-164B, featuring an eight-spoke design with milled accents, or MM-164M, which has a diamond-cut face with milled accents for a brilliant finish.

Each is available in piano black finished with a multi-layer clear coat for a high-polish shine, the company said. The MM-164 is available in 18- to 20-inch rim diameter fitments.

 

The M/T Metal Series MM-245, MM-366 and MM-489 feature a two-stage matte black finish. The MM-245 has a multi-dimensional, riveted, five-spoke design and the MM-366 has an open, eight-spoke design with a milled lip. Each is available in 17- to 20-inch fitments.

 The MM-489 is available in dual drill applications with a 16-spoke “split fork” design with a deep, smooth lip and is available in 18- to 20-inch fitments.

Each wheel in the line includes Mickey Thompson branding along with a customized, logo branded, corrosive-resistant pop-top center cap that allows the hubs to be locked down without removing the center cap, according to the company.

M/T Metal Series wheels include a lifetime limited warranty for structural defects and a one-year warranty on the finish.

Meanwhile, Mickey Thompson has added a 50,000-mile treadwear warranty on its Baja STZ line.

“The Baja STZ light truck tire has been manufactured to last with design elements like an aggressive tread design,” said Ken Warner, vice president of marketing for Mickey Thompson. “Variable density nylon overwraps, serrated shoulder scallops and strategically designed siping also add to improved stability in a variety of weather conditions, reliable traction and long wear.”

Eligibility requires that the tires be owned and used by the original purchaser for the vehicle application, fitment, load and speed rating recommended by the vehicle manufacturer's specifications, and that the tires have been inflated, rotated and installed correctly.
