BETHESDA, Md. (Feb. 26, 2015) — The Auto Care Association (ACA) and its Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association (AWDA) segment have joined in launching the new Auto Care Internship Scholarship Fund.
The scholarship fund will provide financial support for college students pursuing auto care industry internships across the U.S., the ACA said. It will help them gain valuable, real-world educations in a variety of auto care careers, it said.
There are 10 awards of $2,500 each available from the fund this year, according to the ACA. The fund is intended for students majoring in programs that have direct application to the auto care industry, such as engineering, business, communications and information technology, it said.
The scholarships will ease financial burdens on students who pursue internships more than 100 miles away from home, it said.
“Today, many students are required to participate in an internship or apprenticeship program as part of their degree completion requirements,” said ACA President and CEO Kathleen Schmatz. “Our new program will allow them to consider unique and fulfilling internship opportunities away from their normal residences.”
April 20 is the deadline to apply for the scholarship. For application forms or more information, visit the ACA website or email [email protected].
