WASHINGTON (Feb. 24, 2015) — Tireco Inc. has recalled 3,793 Milestar medium truck tires for possible cracks in the lower sidewalls.
The tires are Milestar BS623 Premium All Position tires, size 225/70R19.5, and Milestar BD733 Regional Open Shoulder Drive tires, size 225/70R19.5, manufactured between June 9 and Sept. 26, 2014, by Shandong Wanda Boto Tyre Co. Ltd. at its plant in Dongying City, Shandong, China.
Tireco said tires with the cracks have an increased risk of sudden failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
The tires are identified by their sidewall DOT codes, 80AW BTWH, and starting with the production date 2414 and running through 3914, according to the recall notice.
Tireco will offer full refunds to affected owners, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The tire maker will begin official notification of owners on Feb.27. Meanwhile, owners may contact Tireco customer service at 310-767-7990.
