AKRON — Myers Industries Inc. has named Michael Valentino vice president and general manager of Myers do Brasil, Novel, Scepter and Ameri-Kart.
John C. Orr, president and CEO of Akron-based Meyers, said Mr. Valentino's “extensive background in strategic leadership makes him a valuable asset to the Myers team. His proven track record of driving new product development and improving operational performance will be instrumental in executing our growth strategy within material handling.”
Prior to joining Myers, Mr. Valentino spent more than 15 years with the Marmon Group, a Berkshire Hathaway Co., holding numerous leadership positions. He most recently served as sector president of Marmon Foodservice Technologies and president of Prince Castle and Silver King. In that role, Mr. Valentino had full profit and loss (P&L) statement responsibility for $120 million, was responsible for five global P&L statements and four manufacturing facilities within North America and Asia.
During his tenure with Marmon, Mr. Valentino was instrumental in increasing shareholder value by improving margins, optimizing resources and developing a pipeline of innovative new products, according to Meyers.
Mr. Valentino holds a bachelor of science degree in marketing and finance from Syracuse University.
Myers is an international manufacturer of polymer products for industrial, agricultural, automotive, commercial and consumer markets. The company's Myers Tire Supply Distribution Inc. subsidiary is a wholesale distributor of tools, equipment and supplies for the tire, wheel and under vehicle service industry. Last year it released a 350-page full-line catalog in Spanish that features more than 8,000 items for automotive, heavy-duty fleet and retread and repair professionals.
