BETHESDA, Md. (Feb. 6, 2015) — The Aftermarket Auto Parts Alliance (AAPA) raised more than $15,000 for the University of the Aftermarket Foundation at its annual winter shareholder meeting in December.
This 2014 donation follows a $100,000 donation made to the foundation in 2013 in memory of Walter Spence Jr., former AAPA board director. An additional $55,000 was raised during a golf tournament held in honor of Mr. Spence during the group's Winter Shareholder Meeting the same year, according to the AAPA, which comprises more than 50 independent shareholders that offer a wide array of auto products.
“We felt as though we had established a meaningful precedent with the golf tournament and we wanted to keep that momentum going,” said Tim Lee, AAPA shareholder and chairman of the University of the Aftermarket Foundation.
“We were proud to see so many of the 400 attendees contribute to such a worthy industry organization as the University of the Aftermarket Foundation.”
