MISSISSAUGA, Ontario (Feb. 6, 2015) — Kumho Tire Canada Inc. has launched the Solus HA31 high-performance all-weather tire and is offering a consumer rebate on the product through May 31.
The Solus HA31, a replacement for the Solus Vier KH21, will be available only in the Canadian market. The tire offers year-round performance that's earned it the right to bear the mountain snowflace symbol endorsed by the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada and Rubber Manufacturers Association.
Technically speaking, the HA31 features lateral grooves for improved wet performance, 3D sipes for increased traction on snow and ice, a directional tread pattern for improved handling and noise reduction, Kumho said. The tire's solution SBR compound enhances wet grip and braking performance.
The tire launches with 35 sizes in 13- to 17-inch rim diameters and speed ratings of T, H and V. Kumho said it will add 11 sizes in the third quarter.
The Solus HA31 is backed by an 80,000-kilometer/50,000-mile mileage warranty.
Kumho is pitching the HA31 against competitors such as the Nokian Nordman and the Hankook Optimo 4S.
The launch offer is a $48 consumer rebate on a set of four tires purchased from from March 15 to May 31.
“We developed this type of technology to separate the all-weather tire versus the typical all-season tire,” said Harry Choi, president and CEO of Kumho Tire North America, “and we are seeing a demand from consumers for this type of product that works well in urban markets and high traffic areas. It also reduces the cost and hassle for winter tire changeovers.”
