The new tread design is non-directional and optimized to provide longer tread life when used on hard surfaces. Michelin said this is the first tire with diamond-shaped tread blocks made up of beveled facets. The tire features six different grip angles with progressive facets that, according to the tire maker, make the block more rigid regardless of the tread depth. The new tread design also includes sipes which increase the amount of biting edges on the tire and facilitate the evacuation of mud. These sipes also increase traction in snow removal applications, Michelin said.
The tire will be available initially in two sizes in January — 400/70R20 and 460/70R24 — with six additional sizes available later in the year.
