BOWIE, Md. (Jan. 13, 2015) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) will hold Basic Farm Tire Service (FTS) training classes in Iowa and Nebraska this year.
The first FTS class will be sponsored by Tandem Tire and held April 7-9 in Maquoketa, Iowa, TIA said. The second will be sponsored by Dawson Tire & Wheel and held Sept. 1-3 in Gothenburg, Neb. All of the three-day sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, according to TIA.
The FTS classes are minimum-skill training and certificate programs that outline and explain basic guidelines for servicing farm, agriculture and construction tire-and-wheel assemblies, TIA said. Participants will learn step-by-step procedures for demounting, mounting and inflating single, dual and three-piece assemblies in addition to service truck operation and liquid ballast installation/removal, it said.
Tuition is $495 each for either one or two attendees from one company, according to TIA. For three or more, tuition is $45 per student. Each student who successfully completes the course will receive a certificate of completion.
