Tax reform, healthcare top SBLC 2015 agenda

WASHINGTON (Jan. 9, 2015) — Tax reform, healthcare, regulatory relief and infrastructure funding will be the top priorities for 2015 of the Small Business Legislative Council (SBLC).

The SBLC said it will continue its efforts to support tax reforms that provide meaningful simplification and certainty for small businesses while opposing tax measures that place an unequal burden on small business, the council said Jan. 7.

Also, the SBLC will:

• Advance legislation and regulations to improve the Affordable Care Act;

• Promote infrastructure investment to ensure that all businesses have the tools and systems they need for success and growth; and

• Work to engage regulatory agencies on addressing the regulatory burdens that stifle small business growth.

“Small business is a fundamental piece of a dynamic and growing economy,” said SBLC Chair Roy Littlefield, who also serves as executive vice president of the Tire Industry Association.

“It is therefore essential that Congress and the agencies keep small business in mind when passing laws and establishing regulations, and recognize that small business cannot continue to absorb unlimited new burdens,” Mr. Littlefield added.

The SBLC is a permanent, independent coalition of 60 national trade and professional associations acting to maximize small business influence on legislative and regulatory issues and disseminate information about the impact of public policy on small businesses.
