DIAMOND BAR, Calif. (Dec. 31, 2014) — Nexen Tire Corp. has won a U.S. Good Design Award, a program organized annually by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, for its Roadian HTX RH5 SUV/light truck tire.
The award is presented in cooperation with the European Center for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies, Nexen said.
Entries for categories, including electronics, transportation, furniture, computer and architecture, were submitted by various firms across the world, Nexen said. Products for each category were then selected through a review. Roadian HTX RH5 received high scores for its design that adopted nature in the city.
Roadian HTX RH5 offers “outstanding handling performance,” according to Nexen, and riding comfort on various roads and also strengthened traction on off-road.
“Achieving a grand slam of world design awards and this U.S. Good Design Awards is testament to our redoubled efforts to concentrate all our capabilities from performance and quality on the design of our products,” said Han Min-hyun, Nexen Tire vice president and R&D director.
“We will continue to improve our product competitiveness in the global market through continuous R&D investment.”
Additionally, Nexen said its N'FERA RU5, a premium SUV tire, won the Korean Good Design Awards, best design awards in South Korea organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Korea Institute of Design Promotion.
The company's N'blue Premium won the Pin up Award, Nexen said, which is organized by Korea Association of Industrial Designers and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. This is the third Silver winning achievement after having won the same prize in 2009 for the first time in the tire industry.
