LONDON (Dec. 29, 2014) — Martha Desmond has been appointed as the chief human resources officer at Apollo Tyres Ltd.
She replaces Tapan Mitra who is retiring.
Ms. Desmond will be responsible for all aspects of HR for the Indian tire maker, in addition to being a member of the company's management board, Apollo said Dec. 22. She will be based out of the company's office in London.
“I am confident that Martha, with her vast experience across geographies, will help us improve on our global HR systems and processes, at the same time, make Apollo Tyres a highly people-centric organization,” said Neeraj Kanwar, Apollo's vice chairman and managing director.
Ms. Desmond's last assignment was with Genel Energy, where she worked as HR director based out of Turkey. Prior to that, she was associated with BG Group as HR director and later, in Mumbai, as deputy managing director for the group's exploration and production division.
She also has worked with RWE Thames Water, HFC Bank and Resourcing Solutions in various capacities based out of the United Kingdom, giving her professional expertise in all aspects of HR at senior levels.
