Marangoni hits 4M treads in Tenn.

MADISON, Tenn. (Dec. 24, 2014) — Marangoni Tread North America Inc. reached a milestone recently, producing the 4 millionth tread at its Madison plant.

Marangoni Tread opened the Madison plant in 2004 and hit the 1 million tread mark in 2008. Since then, both capacity and production have increased dramatically, Marangoni said, including a 15-percent jump in sales this year.

The 4 millionth tread that rolled off the line was a Ringtread XP RDG200 drive tread, the company said.

Marangoni Tread CEO and President Bill Sweatman lauded his employees, saying, “We are proud and thankful that we have been able to achieve this important milestone. Our unit sales have increased more than 15 percent this year and along with other improvements, we have gained in both market share and market strength.”

Chanthavy Vongsamphanh, manufacturing manager, said, “Our commitment to lean manufacturing and a team culture will ensure high quality, employee involvement, safe and environmentally responsible work environment so that we can continue to meet the on-time delivery requirements of our growing customer base.”   

Marangoni supplies 30 retread plants in the U.S. and three in Canada, according to the retread system supplier's dealer locator, including the two newest — Gibson Tire Service Inc. in Charleston, S.C., and Wilson County Tire & Retreading in Lebanon, Tenn.
