GREENVILLE, S.C.Industrias Mich-elin S.A. de C.V. has launched a line of Uniroyal-brand medium truck radials for the Mexican market, and Michelin Tires Canada Ltd. plans to add them to its portfolio this coming spring.
Michelin North America Inc. President Pete Selleck disclosed the product launch recently in an interview with Chris Sweeney, a reporter with Rubber & Plastics News, a sister publication of Tire Business.
Michelin does not, at this time, plan to offer the products in the U.S., a company spokesperson said. The company sells a full line of Michelin- and BFGoodrich-brand radial truck tires in the U.S.
The new radial linesthe LT40 trailer position for long haul and regional, RD30 drive axle for long haul and regional and the RS20 regional steer axle/all positioncomplement Industrias Michelin's lineup of Uniroyal-branded bias-ply truck tires.
Industrias Michelin operates one plant in Mexico, in Queretaro, that it reopened in 2002 after a 20-month hiatus.
Michelin did not elaborate on its plans for the line in Canada, saying only it plans to launch the line in March, together with a dedicated website.
