WASHINGTON (Dec. 11, 2014) — The U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works held a hearing Dec. 8 on S. 2911, the Super Pollutants Act of 2014.
Among other things, S. 2911 would require the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to conduct a study on whether the sale of R134a automotive air conditioning recharge kits to consumers represents a significant source of hydrofluorocarbon emissions, which contribute to global warming.
S. 2911 remains in committee and is unlikely to reach the Senate floor during this legislative session, according to a press release from the Automotive Service Association.
