POWAY, Calif. (Dec. 11, 2014) — Mitchell Repair Information Co. L.L.C. and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) have named Joseph Grenchik of New Lenox, Ill., the 2014 Mitchell 1/ASE Technician of the Future.
Mr. Grenchik was presented with the award as part of the ASE Fall Board of Governors Meeting and Annual Technician Awards, held Nov. 18-19 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He received a $500 cash prize and a $2,000 gift certificate good for a one-year subscription to Mitchell 1's ProDemand software.
In order to qualify to win the Mitchell 1/ASE Technician of the Future award, the recipient must be ASE-certified, be registered as a student, be under 30 years old and have the highest cumulative test scores on the A4, A5, A6 and A8 tests.
Mr. Grenchik has been a technician for a year and is a full-time student at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill., where he is working toward a bachelor's degree in automotive technology. He also serves as an officer with a volunteer emergency management agency that assists police, fire and public works departments during severe weather and other emergencies.
