SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Dec. 8, 2014) — Trelleborg Wheel Systems has unveiled the TM150 self-propelled sprayer tire, developed according to the company's BlueTire technology.
Trelleborg said the new tire, available in size VF 380/90R46 173D, is able to support up to 14,300 pounds at 40 mph and can carry up to 40 percent more load at the same tire pressure as standard products. The firm added that the tires also can be inflated with 40 percent less pressure while carrying the same load as other tires.
“The need for higher productivity in the world's agricultural industry is driving the professional and extensive use of modern sprayers, particularly in Europe and America,” said Emiliana Vesco, product manager agricultural and forestry tires at Trelleborg Wheel Systems. “New generations of fertilizers and self-propelled high powered sprayers require a significant upgrade of tire technology to cope with new and future highly demanding applications, primarily in terms of high load, stability and reduced soil compaction.”
Mr. Vesco added the TM150 can “minimize ruts and decrease soil compaction” and ensures a footprint 5 to 8 percent wider than standard series “with great benefit for crop yields.”
The tread pattern of the TM150 line has been designed to prevent stubble damage and improve road performance even at high speeds, Trelleborg said, and features wide lugs to increase the tire stiffness when the machine is loaded. A sharp head maximizes grip, while the tire's large, rounded shoulder increases stability of the vehicle when its booms are extended.
In the VF 380/90R46 size, the tire can also be fitted on different rim dimensions, Trelleborg said, which provides the professional farmer with savings in terms of time and money. Development of the range will continue with more sizes added during 2015 to respond to the increasing global demand.
Trelleborg will display the TM150 tire at the World Ag Expo Feb. 10-12 in Tulare, Calif., and Feb. 22-26 at SIMA 2015 in Paris.
