CONCORD, N.C. (Dec. 2, 2014) — Long time Speedway Motorsports Inc. director Robert L. Rewey died Nov. 29.
Mr. Rewey, 76, served on the Speedway Motorsports board of directors since Nov. 8, 2001, following a 38-year career with Ford Motor Co. He retired from the auto maker as group vice president of North American operations and global consumer services. His career with Ford included management of several areas including motorsport operations. He also served as the company's vice president of sales, marketing and customer service.
“Bob Rewey was a tremendous leader not only with Ford Motor Co., but also for the entire automotive industry,” said Bruton Smith, chairman and CEO of Speedway Motorsports. “He made significant contributions to Speedway Motorsports. It is truly a sad time for us. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bob's family and many friends.”
