LONG BEACH, Calif. (Dec. 1, 2014) — Tenneco Inc.'s Rancho performance suspension and shock brand has released a larger version of its RS5000 shock series.
The company's RS5000X features “progressive engagement valving” for increased control and consistent ride profile with a larger shock body. The new shock design features patented “Cross-Tuned Technology,” which Tenneco claims will deliver more consistent performance and extended capabilities across a wider variety of terrain.
The RS5000X shock series has a 2.25-inch diameter reserve tube that delivers greater oil capacity, which can enhance overall performance, Tenneco said. The larger body diameter allows the RS5000X shock to run cooler and more consistent in more extreme conditions and varying vehicle speeds while extending shock durability.
“The Rancho RS5000X series gives vehicles found in North America — and around the world — another great choice for a performance shock,” said Chris Gauss, director of performance brands for Tenneco.
Additionally, each RS5000X shock also includes a solid, 16mm nitro-carb rod for strength and durability during off-road driving, and each shock is gas-pressurized to add a mild boost of spring rate to potentially minimize foaming and shock fade, Tenneco said. The series also features a glass-filled fluon-banded piston that provides smoother piston travel and greater responsiveness when road conditions vary, according to the company.
Each RS5000X shock includes a protective Rancho red boot.
The Rancho brand first launched the original RS5000 shock series in 1985 and all Rancho RS5000X shocks carry a limited lifetime warranty in North America. For additional details and restrictions, go to the Rancho website.
