LAS VEGAS (Nov. 11, 2014) — Apex Tool Group introduced several GearWrench tools during the recent SEMA Show in Las Vegas, including:
- Pinless Universal Impact Sockets with a patented four-lug ball-in-socket design to provide increased durability, speed and strength, allowing technicians to quickly remove stubborn fasteners, according to the company. The tools allow a 30-degree off-center operating angle for access in tight spaces. The sets come in the following ranges: SKU 84922—3/8-inch drive 7-piece SAE set, 3/8 to ¾ inch sizes; SKU 84921—3/8-inch drive 10-piece metric set, 10mm to19mm; SKU 84937—1/2-inch drive nine-piece SAE, ½ to 1 inch; and SKU 84936—1/2 drive 10-piece metric set, 13mm to 24mm sizes.
- Dead Blow Hammers, available in 18-, 24-, 33-, 49- or 54-ounce versions, are made from professional grade polyurethane to resist cuts, splits and abrasions even in extreme sub-zero temperatures, according to Apex. The new hammers provide the control required when working in restricted spaces and with easily damaged surfaces. The hammers also are resistant to gas, brake fluid, anti-freeze and other solvents found in the garage and shop, the company said.
- Fixed Tip Snap Ring Pliers that are available in internal or external, straight and 90-degree styles.
- Three-drawer Mechanics Hand Tool Sets that include commonly used socket and wrench sizes in both metric and SAE, and come stored in a redesigned three-drawer blow mold toolbox. The toolboxes are available with the 239-piece, 219-piece and 143-piece sets.
Apex also expanded its GearWrench screwdriver line to include longer blades on its standard Torx screwdrivers and added a line of GearWrench standard pry bars with an angled tip for increased leverage and access. The new bars feature ergonomic handles for greater leverage and special formulation acetate handles to resist cracking in cold temperatures, according to the company.
