MATTHEWS, N.C.Griffin Brothers Tires, Wheels & Auto Repair is opening a retail store in Matthews, its 10th location in the greater Charlotte metro area.
The eight-bay store, formerly a Meineke Car Care location, was slated to open in early to mid-November, Griffin Brothers said, in a community of about 27,000 residents southeast of Charlotte.
The new store will offer all the services Griffin Brothers customers have come to expect, the dealership said, including individual kiosks where service advisers can assist customers more efficiently, a waiting room with a kids' corner play area, internet workstations for customers to use their laptops, as well as complimentary refreshments and customer shuttle.
Even with nine area locations, we really didn't have a presence on the east side of town, said Larry Griffin Jr., vice president of the Cornelius, N.C.-based dealership, noting the new store will help position the firm to serve Matthews, Mint Hill and surrounding communities.
Chris Wright, manager of the Griffin Brothers' Pineville location, will take over as manager of the new outlet, which will be staffed by six technicians and service advisers.
Family-owned since 1961, Griffin Brothers is a full-service tire and automotive repair shop serving the greater Charlotte metro area.
The tire dealership company is also an authorized dealer for Michelin, BFGoodrich and Uniroyal brands.
Griffin Brothers reported sales last year of $14.7 million, with sales split 35/65 tires/auto repair. It has 125 employees.
The dealership last expanded in 2011, adding two stores that year, its 50th in business.
