LAS VEGAS (Nov. 5, 2014) – The Tire Industry Association (TIA) plans to organize a retreading symposium next November in Las Vegas during the 2015 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show.
The inaugural Global Retread Symposium will take place on Nov. 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. during the Global Tire Expo - Powered by TIA at the Las Vegas Convention Center, TIA announced today. The event will be cosponsored by the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB).
"Our goal is to gather retread associations from around the world to discuss issues that cross international boundaries and impact the industry as a whole," said TIA President Freda Pratt-Boyer.
The purpose of the symposium will be to discuss:
* international issues such as taxes, regulations, restrictions, and noise control;
* safety standards on truck tire retreads;
* new tire issues that affect retreads; and
* passenger retreading.
"Although details of the event are still being formulated at this time, we have reached out to a number of retread groups across the globe about their participation and the interest level is very strong," said TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield.
