SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Oct. 17, 2014) — Discount Tire/America's Tire opened six stores — three in Texas, two in California and one in Iowa — in recent weeks, expanding the dealership's network to 890 stores in 23 states.
The stores in Texas, in El Paso, Leander and Katy, expand Discount Tire's network in the Lone Star state to 233, the most in any state where the dealership is operating.
The dealership's 15th outlet in the San Francisco area is in Milbrae, near the San Francisco airport.
The stores in California, in Millbrae and Palmdale, are the dealership's 136th and 137th locations in the Golden State; they operate under the America's Tire banner.
The store in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is Discount's fourth there.
The dealership did not disclose its investment in the new stores.
In Texas, Discount promoted Carlos Navarro, a 12-year company veteran, to manager of the 7,373-sq.-ft. El Paso store, which is the sixth Discount outlet in that west Texas community. He'll oversee a dozen employees.
In Leander, a suburb of Austin, 13-year company veteran Sid Bergeron will manage the 7,373-sq.-ft. store and its 12 employees. Discount now has 15 stores in the Austin area.
Erin McCleary, a Discount Tire employee for 21 years, manages the new store in Katy, a suburb of Houston. The store, which also spans 7,373 square feet and has a dozen employees, is Discount's fourth in Katy and 32nd in the Houston area.
Discount Tire's 32nd outlet in the Houston area is in Katy, its fourth location there.
In California Discount named Juan Garcia, a 16-year veteran, and Michael Fallon, an 18-year veteran, to manage the new America's Tire stores in Millbrae and Palmdale, respectively.
The 7,699-sq.-ft. store in Millbrae, near the San Francisco airport, is the dealership's 15th outlet in the San Francisco area, while the 7,373-sq.-ft. Palmdale store is the first in that northern Los Angeles suburb.
Discount Tire did not say how many employees are at these locations.
Seven-year company veteran Jon Nelson is managing the 7,373-sq.-ft. Cedar Rapids location and its 10 employees. The new store in Iowa is part of Discount's recent push in to the Heartland of the U.S., which includes stores in Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri.
