BOWIE, Md. (Oct. 13, 2014) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has opened the application period for the 2015/2016 Michelin/TIA Scholarship.
The eligibility requirements for scholarship applicants are:
• Must be a high school senior planning to pursue a post-secondary education at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational technical school;
• Must be either a part-time employee or dependent child of a full-time employee of a TIA member tire dealer. Employees must be employed by the company at the time of application. Michelin North America Inc. employees and dependent children are not eligible; and
• Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale through spring 2014 semester.
Applicants must submit the requested information via TIA's website or by mail no later than Jan. 21.
TIA said the Michelin/TIA scholarship has been awarded every year since 2000. Since its inception, more than $250,000 has been awarded to 46 recipients who have gone on to attend accredited two-year, four-year, technical or vocational schools. Once awarded a scholarship, recipients may renew it for up to three more years.
