KENNER, La.—Alain Karmona, owner of Paska/Tire Bargain Center Inc. in Kenner, died Sept. 12.
He was 75.
Mr. Karmona was born in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1939. He was a former member of the Israeli Defense Force and served in the first Sinai Campaign. In 1977, he moved from France, where he worked in the tire business, to New Orleans.
Mr. Karmona opened his retail/wholesale tire business in Kenner in 1986.
The dealership, which employs nine, will continue to operate under family ownership, according to his son-in-law Mike Spagnol.
An avid sailor, Mr. Karmona was a member of the Southern Yacht Club and the New Orleans Yacht Club.
Mr. Karmona's survivors include his companion, Sharon Fernandez; son Ariel; daughters Brigitte Karmona, Pascal McAtee and Paulette Karmona Vaurchex; and brother Ken.
