LAS VEGASThe annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show and the Automotive Aftermarket Parts Exposition (AA-PEX) will be drawing automotive aftermarket business people to Las Vegas, Nov. 3-7, for product exhibits and educational seminars.
The SEMA Show, including the Global Tire ExpoPowered by TIA (Tire Industry Association), will be held Nov. 4-7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center while AAPEX runs Nov. 4-6 at the Sands Expo Center.
TIA's annual membership meeting will take place from noon to 12:30 p.m. at Caesars Palace while the Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau will hold a business meeting from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Caesars Palace.
SEMA's Wheel & Tire Council will hold its annual meeting from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, and its Hall of Fame reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Renaissance Hotel pool area.
TIA will induct three tire industry veterans into its Hall of Fame and honor three others with the Ed Wagner Leadership Award during the Tire Industry Honors Awards ceremony, Nov. 3, at Caesars Palace.
The 2014 Hall of Fame winners are: Harold Coker, founder and chairman emeritus of Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Coker Tire Co.,; Charles Cornell, founder of Johnstown, Ohio-based tire and tube repair materials company Tech International; and Juanita Purcell, executive vice president of Potosi, Mo.-based Purcell Tire & Rubber Co.
The Ed Wagner Leadership Award winners are: Mary Sikora, founder and publisher of Scrap Tire News; Tom Wright, founder of Anoka, Minn.-based Wright Tire Service; and Jim Smith, editor of Tire Review.
During the awards ceremony, Tire Business will present its Tire Dealer Humanitarian Award.
The Automotive Maintenance & Repair Association/Motorist Assurance Pro-gram will hold its annual membership meeting, Nov. 3, at the Venetian Las Vegas hotel.

SEMA is adding an attraction at the conclusion of the trade show, Nov. 7, called SEMA Ignited. The event will be open to the public to showcase customized vehicles from the SEMA Show, with a SEMA Cruise on the Las Vegas Strip immediately after SEMA Show closes at 4 p.m. The event will include food, music, celebrities, iconic vehicle builders and exhibitor displays.
AAPEX is debuting the Service Professionals Program to its AA-PEXedu education track sessions, designed to for service and repair professionals along with independent shop owners. The AAPEXedu sessions are offered Nov. 3-6.
Meanwhile, the National Automotive Service Task Force (NAS-TF) will hold its fall general meeting Nov. 5 at the Sands Expo Center as part of the Service Professionals Program, allowing shop owners and technicians to interact directly with OEM attendees.
In lieu of its Town Hall meeting, AAPEX this year will hold a free General Session at 8 a.m., Nov. 5 in The Venetian, featuring a keynote address by Steve Forbes, chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media.
His topic, The Next Four Years: Navigating the Economy for Business Growth and Success, will address the economy and provide insights and strategic advice for business growth.
AAPEX is offering an Attendee Acquisition Widget that lets buyers use an exhibitor's website to register for the show as well as view an exhibitor's online profile, show specials, etc. Exhibitors can use the widget to collect leads before the show.
