AKRON (Aug. 28, 2014) — Goodyear has promoted company veteran Jack Winterton to vice president, global sales and marketing, and named Ryan Patterson to replace him as president of North America Consumer.
Mr. Winterton, a 41-year Goodyear veteran, will be a “critical leader” in the newly created global sales and marketing function and will report to Richard Kellam, who was hired in the past few days to be senior vice president of global sales and marketing, Goodyear said.
Mr. Winterton will help lead the alignment of Goodyear's customer-facing capabilities around the world in the development of a global sales and marketing operating system.
Goodyear Chairman and CEO Richard Kramer cited Mr. Winterton's “perspective and experience” as essential to the company's drive to integrate sales and marketing processes and enhance the customer and consumer experience from the market back.
“Jack brings not only industry and customer expertise to this team, but also organizational credibility and respect,” Mr. Kramer said.
Mr. Winterton, 61, has worked in Goodyear's North American Tire business for his entire career, including nearly 30 years in the Kelly-brand business. He was named president, North America Consumer in 2011, and prior to that was chief customer officer for Goodyear's North American Tire consumer business.
Mr. Patterson, 41, has been vice president consumer operations and customer development since December 2011, responsible for guiding the consumer organization's channel sales and customer marketing teams.
In his position as president, North America Consumer, Mr. Patterson will be responsible for management and operation of the company's largest product business unit globally. As a key architect of the North America Consumer strategy for the past two and half years, Mr. Patterson will serve to further implement that strategy throughout the entire consumer business, Goodyear said.
He will report to Steve McClellan, president North America, who said, “Ryan is a proven customer advocate, has a firm understanding of the business overall and a detailed knowledge of its customer and the consumer market.
“I have confidence in Ryan's ability to continue to drive Goodyear's growth agenda and work for Goodyear customers.”
Mr, Patterson joined Goodyear in 2002 and worked initially in the company's Latin America business, based in Mexico, Brazil and Peru. In 2008, he joined the North America organization as the finance director of the consumer business.
