GREENVILLE, S.C. (Aug. 8, 2014) — Michelin Americas Truck Tires has revamped its commercial tire website to make it more mobile-friendly and customer driven.
Among the new features of the website is a more advanced tire selector with optimized search and tire model comparison functions, Michelin said, including a retread selector that indicates which retreads will fit on a particular tire casing. The Greenville-based company claims it's the first such feature offered by a tire manufacturer.
Other features include fuel-, mileage- and weight-savings calculators and a dealer locator.
“Our goal for the new site was to provide a robust user experience for our customers, with information and tools to assist their decision making and trucking operations” said Bianca Hogan, U.S. country marketing manager for Michelin Americas Truck Tires.
“Our customers will especially appreciate the new tire and retread selectors as well as the calculators that help estimate improvements to their bottom line.”
Michelin said information from the site can be printed or shared via social channels or email. Customers can create an account and save searches for dealers, tires, and access previous fuel and mileage and weight comparisons, as well as all available services, reference materials and testimonials.
More specifically, the fuel/mileage calculator allows the user to compare a current set of tires against a proposed set of tires—including a second life scenario that represents retreads or a second fitment—and derive fuel economy and tire wear and calculate the impact on annual fuel and tire costs.
The weight-savings calculator is designed to let customers calculate potential increased revenues from converting to Michelin X One wide-based singles from duals.
The tire selector includes information on tread patterns, retread offerings, applications, SmartWay verification, warranties, rolling resistance, benefits, sizes, etc.
The new retread selector indicates which retreads will fit on a particular tire casing and includes product videos, product sheets, SmartWay verification and warranties.
