STUTTGART, Germany (July 22, 2014) — Daimler Benz A.G. has selected Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd.'s C.drive2 high-performance eco tire as an OE fitment — in standard and run-flat versions — for its 2015 GLA-Class compact SUV sold in overseas markets.
The GLA-Class — a four-door, five-passenger hatchback — will be fitted with the C.drive2 in size 235/50R18 97V, Yokohama said, which will bear Daimler's official stamps of approval on the sidewall: “MO” for the standard version and “MOE” for the runflat version.
The GLA is Mercedes-Benz's first offering in the compact SUV segment and is equipped with the company's 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system and powered by a 208-hp, turbochared 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine. It's due in U.S. showrooms this fall, Mercedes-Benz USA said earlier this year.
Yokohama launched the C.drive2 in March 2010 as a successor to the C.drive line with improved wet grip with low rolling resistance.
Yokohama also is a designated OE supplier on numerous other Mercedes-Benz models, including the S-Class, G-Class, G 63 AMG, G 65 AMG, CL 63 AMG, ML 63 AMG, E-Class Coupe, C-Class, C 63 AMG, CLS-Class, SL-Class, SLK-Class, B-Class, and the A-Class.
