TOKYO (July 17, 2014) — Bridgestone Corp. will relocate its rubber tracks and marine fenders manufacturing operation in Shenyang City, China, to a chemical industry park also located in Shenyang City.
Bridgestone said the relocation will cost about $32.9 million, which includes building construction and equipment. The new plant will span about 560,000 square feet with plans for production to begin in the first half of 2016.
The current site is about 400,000 square feet and employs 409 workers. The firm did not comment as to what effect the relocation will have on employment.
Shenyang Bridgestone Ltd. produces rubber tracks used on agricultural, construction, mining and transportation equipment. It also produces marine fenders used as energy absorbing bumpers on docks of shipping ports worldwide.
