CHARLOTTE, N.C. (July 11, 2014) — Griffin Brothers Tires, Wheels & Auto Repair raised more than $85,000 for charity at its sixth annual “Chip'n for Children” golf tournament held recently at Pine Island Country Club in Charlotte.
More than 100 golfers from various organizations and civic groups participated in the tournament, Cornelius, N.C.-based Griffin Brothers said.
All proceeds from this year's tournament stayed in the community to help support the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte (BBBSGC) and related facilities. BBBSGC is 100-percent community funded, according to Griffin Brothers. It costs $1,000 to match and support one child with an adult mentor for one year.
The dealership began the Chip'n for Children tournament in 2009 to help raise money for local charities and organizations. This is the third year Griffin Brothers partnered with the BBBSGC, an affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
The company also partners with the Men's Shelter of Charlotte, donating money, goods and service time throughout the year.
