    FULLERTON, Calif. (July 9, 2014) — Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) is broadening its Advan performance line with the Advan Sport A/S, an all-season, ultra-high-performance offering designed to appeal to sport and luxury drivers looking for year-round performance.

    The new line launched July 1 in the U.S. in 28 sizes in 17- to 20-inch rim diameters. Seven more sizes will be available later in the year, Yokohama said.

    The size range available now covers 225/45R17 to 275/35R20.

    “The ADVAN Sport A/S is all about dynamic all-season performance,” said Andrew Briggs, Yokohama director, marketing and product planning. “Drivers can expect exceptional handling and traction in all weather conditions — dry, rain and light snow — as well as superior ride comfort for a smooth, quiet drive.”

    Yokohama is offering a 50,000-mile limited treadwear warranty on W- and Y-speed rated models of the tire, the first Advan tire to be offered so, the tire maker said.

    Yokohama is targeting the tire at owners of vehicles from Audi A.G., BMW A.G., Toyota Motor Corp.'s Lexus Division, Mercedes-Benz A.G., Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.'s Infiniti Division and Porsche A.G.

    Some highlights of the Advan Sport A/S are:

    • A silica-based tread compound that enables all-season handling with exceptional wear resistance;
    • An asymmetric tread design with three straight circumferential grooves to improve water evacuation from the tread and a serpentine groove that provides a snow-shearing force and combines with wavy sipes for extra wet handling and z-grooves for added snow traction;
    • Dry performance is improved by large outside shoulder blocks and 2-in-1 large blocks that maximize stiffness for increased lateral stability; and
    • Comfort and tire noise suppression are enhanced by extending the sidewall reinforcement higher up to deliver enhanced handling and a four-pitch tread variation for reduced pattern noise.
