CLEVELANDThe staff of Tire Business recently picked up four awards from the Press Club of Cleveland for Excellence in Journalism in Ohio.
Reporters William Schertz, Miles Moore and Jennifer Karpus each received individual awards, while the entire staff was recognized for Tire Business' 30th Anniversary issue, which was judged the best special section/package for a trade publication in 2013.
Mr. Schertz was awarded third place in the Trade Report category for his story, Falken looks for positive in an uncertain market.
Mr. Moore took third place in the Features: Trends category for his article, Weed of Wonder? The dandelion connection.
Ms. Karpus received third-place honors in the Features: Personality Profile category for her story, Against all oddsBaker Tire's 'Tire Baby' grows up.
In addition, Don Detore and Chris Sweeney of Rubber & Plastics NewsTire Business' sister publication in the Akron officeearned awards as well.
Mr. Detore took home a second-place award in the Features: Trends category for his piece, Dangerous legacy: Former Ohio Rubber site served as base for poison manufacturing.
Mr. Sweeney, together with Mr. Moore, earned second place in the Features: Special Section/Package category for Associations prosper from split decision.
