ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (June 27, 2014) — Two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Al Unser Jr. recently joined spark plug maker Enerpulse Technologies Inc. as the company's performance expert.
Albuquerque-based Enerpulse also announced that last week it introduced the fourth generation of its Pulstar PlasmaCore Pulse Plugs, the latest iteration of its alternative to conventional spark plugs.
Mr. Unser will be a consumer advocate for Enerpulse, assisting the company in delivering automotive enthusiasts improved vehicle power and performance, the company said.
Enerpulse uses high-power electro-magnetics for its “Precise Combustion Ignition” (PCI) technology, which it claims is a “major breakthrough” in internal-combustion engine ignition systems.
Pulstar plugs use an integrated capacitor that stores and compresses electrical energy to intensify the spark, a process that results in more engine power and extended plug life, Enerpulse claims. The bigger spark, according to the company, “produces a burst of plasma” that produces more than 5 million “watts of peak power.”
Enerpulse only recently started trading publicly on the over-the-counter markets, under the symbol ENPT.
