WASHINGTON (June 23, 2014) — The SmartWay Transportation Partnership has scheduled webinars for June 24 and 25 for the benefit of partnership members and prospective members.
“Accounting for Multimodal Freight Movement: SmartWay Multimedia Tool Demo” is the title of the webinar scheduled from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, June 24. The webinar demonstrates the 2014 SmartWay multimodal tool designed to help multimodal carriers, shippers and other organizations with a stake in multimodal freight movement.
According to SmartWay, the multimodal tool allows users to:
• Assess operations by gathering basic information about a company's rail, truck and barge carriers and logistics companies;
• Calculate a company's baseline by entering data and submitting it for review; and
• Track a company's annual changes in performance.
The webinar is free, but interested parties must register at the EPA's website for SmartWay webinars.
“2014 SmartWay New Partner Orientation Webinar” is the title of the presentation scheduled from 2:30 to 3:30 EDT on Wednesday, June 25.
That webinar is designed as an introduction to the SmartWay program for new partners, SmartWay said. It includes a program summary; descriptions of partner resources and responsibilities; tips for completing the tracking and assessment tool; and tool inputs and benefits.
The SmartWay Transport Partnership is a collaborative program between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, large and small trucking companies, rail carriers, manufacturers, retailers, other government agencies, and other stakeholders to improve the fuel efficiency and environmental performance of truck fleets.
The program certifies various products as environmentally friendly, including new and retreaded truck tires.
