WASHINGTON (June 12, 2014) — Qingdao Xiyingmen Double Camel Tyre Co. Ltd. and Lionshead Specialty Tire & Wheel L.L.C. are expanding their recall of Vail Sport ST LH 99 tubeless trailer tires to include 38,129 more tires to the 1,440 recalled earlier this year.
The tires — in size 225/75D15, Load Range D — are being recalled for a possible tendency to become unseated from their rims.
On Jan. 21, 2014, Double Camel and Goshen, Ind.-based Lionshead announced a recall of 1,440 Vail Sport tires manufactured between July 14 and July 27, 2013. On May 7, the companies added 38,129 tires to the recall, manufactured between Nov. 20, 2011 and Sept. 21, 2013, at Qingdao Xiyingmen's plant Qingdao.
The recalled tires are marked DOT Code 69 and have the manufacturing dates 4711 to 3713. The companies said Lionshead mounted the tires in question on rims and supplied them to trailer makers.
Lionshead began the original recall in February 2014, and said it will expand the recall during the month of June. Customers may call Lionshead at 574-533-6169.
Complete information on the recall is available at the Department of Transportation's SaferCar website.
