WASHINGTON (June 3, 2014) — Officials of the Mechanical Division of the Automotive Service Association met with David Friedman, acting administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, on May 29.
Vehicle safety inspections and advancements in vehicle technology were the topics of conversation, according to the ASA.
During the meeting, both Mr. Friedman and Bob Wills, ASA Mechanical Division director, expressed interest in NHTSA and the Mechanical Division working more closely together in future, ASA said. Mr. Friedman said he wanted to work directly with ASA members to collect information for NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation.
The next major event on the ASA calendar is the International Autobody Congress and Expostion (NACE) and Congress of Automotive Repair and Service (CARS), scheduled to run concurrently in Detroit July 30-Aug. 2.
