DETROIT (June 3, 2014) — Before actress Ann B. Davis was “Alice,” the live-in maid on the 1970s sitcom “The Brady Bunch,” she lent her wisecracking humor to a saucy commercial for the mid-sized Ford Fairlane, detailing “that Fairlane feeling.”
Ms. Davis, who died June 1 at age 88 in San Antonio, was featured in a commercial for the Fairlane that aired in the 1960s. In the spot, she describes the feeling of driving the two-way sport shift.
“It's a force that says, ‘Ride, my love, come away with me. Maybe for a pizza!'” Ms. Davis says in the commercial.
The camera pans out at the end of the commercial to show Ms. Davis holding a car salesman like a baby. It closes with the tagline, “You're ahead in a Ford.”
Ford Motor Co. produced the Fairlane from 1955 to 1970, transitioning the trim to the Torino nameplate in 1970.
