PLYMOUTH, Mich. (May 22, 2014) — Brembo S.p.A. has commissioned a $115 million expansion of its Homer, Mich., brake components factory, that will support the company's growth in North America.
The project will expand Brembo's capacities for brake disc, caliper and corner module manufacturing at the plant, which it took over in 2007 as part of its acquisition of Hayes-Lemmerz' brakes discs division.
“This expanded and modernized production facility represents a new foundation for Brembo in North America, enabling us to increase our presence in the U.S. market and offer better service to our clients,” Brembo Chairman Alberto Bombassei said at a May 21 ceremony to mark the expansion.
“Today's celebration renews our commitment to the North American market,” said Daniel Sandberg, president and CEO of Brembo North America. “The investment in the Homer facility will allow us to expand our product offerings not only in North America, but also for customers across the globe.”
The expansion of the plant coincides with the acknowledgement that North America will become Brembo's single largest market this year.
