BATON ROUGE, La. (May 14, 2014) — The Louisiana Independent Tire Dealers Association (LITDA) is rolling out a “Dollars for Scholars” program.
The fundraiser benefitting the LITDA Scholarship Fund will be held on June 28 at participating member locations across Louisiana.
Miles Holley, owner of Skid Marks Tire Pros and member of the LITDA board of directors, created the idea for this program as a way for tire dealers to give back to their communities.
“Tire dealers are all about giving back and what better way than to invest in the future of our children and their future,” Mr. Holley said.
During “Dollars for Scholars,” participating companies will donate $1 for every tire sold at their location on June 28, LITDA said, with all proceeds benefitting the association's scholarship fund.
The LITDA Scholarship honors the sons and daughters of LITDA members who have achieved academic excellence and who have demonstrated community leadership abilities. In 2014, the trade group awarded five scholarships worth $2,000 each.
