CYPRESS, Calif. (May 1, 2014) — With 2014 marking the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang — considered one of the most iconic cars in history — Nitto Tire U.S.A. Inc. has launched a website for fans to wish the pony car a happy b-day and share their Mustang stories.
Nitto said of the Mustang—first introduced at the 1964 World's Fair in New York—that “there are very few vehicles that have been produced non-stop for 50 years and even fewer that have consistently influenced the lives and culture of so many generations.”
The tire marketer's new website, HappyBirthdayMustang.com, makes “sharing your Mustang story with the world fun and easy,” Nitto said.
The company is encouraging Mustang fans to share YouTube videos, upload Mustang images, or write a personalized birthday message directly from the site. “Once submitted, your tale will become part of the living collage on the website, viewable and shareable by anyone who visits. You can also submit content through Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #Mustang50th.”
As part of the celebration, Nitto said it has interviewed dozens of enthusiasts and industry icons and incorporated their stories into the site.
“Nitto's early success is closely tied to the Ford Mustang and its loyal followers,” said Stephen Leu, assistant manager at Nitto Tire. “We wanted to celebrate that rich history and give Mustang fans a way to share their stories while learning how the Mustang positively influenced our company.”
The tire marketer plans to attend various Ford and Mustang shows around the country this year and will have a video crew on hand to help people share their stories on the new website. Nitto and its video crews will be available at the upcoming Mustang Madness show at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles May 3-4 and also will provide videos, pictures and stories from the Fabulous Fords Forever show that took place at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif., on April 27.
