RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (April 30, 2014) — Several of Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc.'s tire designs have been named product design winners in multiple world-wide design competitions.
The Red Dot Awards, iF Design Awards and the IDEA Design Competition represent the world's three major design competitions, Kumho said, and the Rancho Cucamonga-based tire manufacturer won the Red Dot Award for a third consecutive year—a first for a Korean tire manufacturer.
Kumho's three 2014 Red Dot Design award-winning tire patterns are: Ecsta PS91 UHP tire, the Wattrun VA31 electric vehicle tire and the WinterCRAFT Wi61 winter tire, according to the company.
For the iF Product Design Awards held earlier this year, Kumho's Ecsta PS91 tire earned its second consecutive iF award for design. Kumho said its second iF award-winning tire design was for the Ecsta HS51, whose design is inspired by “the bright city lights.”
“It is a great honor to have won two design awards in just the first half of this year,” said Bong-Yeong Sohn, Kumho Tire research division director.
“We will continue to further develop our design capabilities based on our cutting-edge technological prowess and outstanding quality, enhancing our global competitiveness.”
