CHICAGO (April 24, 2014) — The hotel registration deadline for the 2014 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) has been extended until April 25.

The event takes place May 20-21 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Rosemont, Ill.

The GAAS organizers said attendees can take advantage of the discounted group hotel rate of $179 by clicking this link or by calling 888-421-1442.

Symposium organizers also are warning attendees about potential fraud associated with the event.

“It has come to our attention that an unauthorized company, representing itself as being part of GAAS, has contacted some of our attendees to offer them hotel reservations,” said Denny Welvaert, GAAS chairman.

“If you receive a call like this, it is a scam and you should hang up on the caller. Reservations should only be made via our online hotel reservation link or by calling the hotel directly and referencing the ‘Global Symposium.'”

To download the registration brochure for GAAS 2014 and to view the latest copy of the agenda, visit the symposium website.

The GAAS said each year the net proceeds of symposium are invested in the organization's scholarship fund to help students start their automotive aftermarket career. The GAAS has awarded scholarships to more than 1,800 students representing $1.8 million in aid.
