CONWAY, Ark. (April 22, 2014) — Snap-on Equipment, a division of Snap-on Inc., has unveiled the Hofmann monty 8600 tire changer.

The unit is a powered wheel lift that Snap-on claims helps reduce the chance of injury from handling heavy tires and wheels.

Snap-On said when using the Hofmann monty 8600 leverless tire changer, service technicians maintain an upright and ergonomic body position, which provides the benefits of reducing technician fatigue.

“The Hofmann monty 8600 is easy to use and makes quick work of changing tires when servicing passenger cars, light trucks and SUVs,” said Michael Alusick, product manager for Snap-on Equipment.

The monty 8600 provides “a safe method of tire removal and mounting,” he said.

The new unit features center wheel clamping for precise wheel centering, Snap-On said, combined with electronically synchronized rotating dual-disc bead breakers with servo drive so that “tire beads are broken effortlessly with precise force.”

For tire demounting, a laser pointer indicates precise tool positioning and a leverless de-mounting tool lifts the tire bead over the wheel rim edge for easy removal without damage to the tire bead or the wheel edge. Snap-on said other features include a two-speed turntable and seven and 14 rpm turntable rotation that shortens the de-mounting and mounting process.
