OSAKA, Japan (April 17, 2014) — Japanese tire maker Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd. has signed an agreement with Italian soccer club AC Milan (Italy) to become a premium sponsor of the team.
The sponsorship contract—which takes effect immediately and runs until June 2016—covers the remaining games of the 2014 season. Toyo said it will remain premium sponsor of AC Milan throughout the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons.
AC Milan, officially “Associazione Calcio Milano,” plays in Italy's Serie A, one of the world's top leagues for football/soccer.
Toyo Tire called AC Milan “a prestigious club, with an unsurpassed record in international football.” It noted that the club represents “exactly the kind of passion and values that motivate Toyo Tires. Their all-out, aggressive style of play adds to the weight of the tradition the club has established.”
